Greenwich to the Tower: TP walk two

Walking on with quiet residential mews on our left and an equally quiet river with the Isle of Dogs in the background on our right we came across a statue called Sunbeam Weekly and the Pilgrims Pocket by Peter MacLean and another of Dr. Alfred Salter, local GP and MP, his daughter, and their cat …

Also along Rotherhithe Street –the longest street in England according to a local but a google search reveals other contenders -is undisputedly one of the best little museums I’ve visited: The Brunel Museum (http://www.brunel-museum.org.uk/index.aspx). We had a very welcome cup of tea in china cups and enjoyed learning about the history of the Rotherhithe Tunnel … fascinating and inspiring, well worth a visit.

Our walk took us closer and closer to Tower Bridge where we will start next time … so many places to visit around there I suspect that will be a short walk with lots of museum visits.
