A very wet walk …

Nine miles from Witley to Chiddingfold and return –why was I walking in the rain I asked myself several times on Saturday. We walked at a lively pace, all the more to reach the pub and be out of the wet for a while. Yes, the Surrey countryside was at its best but between the raindrops and steam on my glasses I saw  very little.  The highlight was in the variety of terrain –meadows, hazel woodland, farmyards, and wild flowers everywhere including yellow archangels.

Walking back was more enjoyable –knee high in buttercups and clover, lots more stiles, much more mud. The rain had moved on and my waterproofs dried out –not so my boots but the squelching did subside as we reached Witley station once again.

Thank you June and Aubrey at Country Walks www.country-walks.com for another interesting walk.
