Another cloudy warm day at the Bay and a visit to Simon and Kerry’s new house at Patons Rock. With all around views, neighbourly young cows and plenty of birdlife, the attraction of building a house in this spot is clear. The interior is slowly taking shape –including logs stoves and bedrooms with balcony’s to take in the views. We were able to compare living in very different houses that are works in progress!
Our afternoon walk. with one of the cats, went through Simon and Kerry’s own piece of bush with manuka and other hardwood trees and lots of tame fantails. Not quite tame enough to stay still enough for a clear photo but very human friendly show-offs displaying their black and white tails -even I enjoyed their company. As we walked a bellbird called from the gum tree and the swifts darted for flies. On our return the cows decided run for the cat who calmly stared them out beyond the safety of the electric fence.
Simon’s wifi meant I could post the blogs I’ve written during my stay in Golden Bay and read emails. I’ll post this entry asap –tomorrow I drive south to Greymouth to start another week of this wonderful trip.
